Meet the LLAGOS PROTOTIPO: a custom forged wheels for Ferrari that rewrites the relationship between past and present — channelling the raw five-spoke geometry of Ferrari’s golden era into a design language built entirely for today.
When Eduard Llagostera set out to create a new design of bespoke forged wheels for Ferrari, he went back to the source. The Testarossa, the F40, the 330 P4 and the 512 P — the cars that defined Ferrari’s iconic identity across the late 1960s and 1980s — each wore wheels with an unmistakable star-spoke silhouette. That archetype, reinterpreted through a contemporary design lens, became the foundation of the PROTOTIPO.
“Proud of my latest creation. Back to the ’80s with retro-futuristic style — a design inspired by the iconic rims of the Ferrari Testarossa, F40, 330 P4 and 512 P, with endless customisation options. The PROTOTIPO forged wheels are the ultimate modern reinterpretation of Ferrari’s most iconic rims.”
The result is a bespoke forged wheels that occupies a singular position in the custom Ferrari wheel market: neither a replica nor a purely futuristic invention, but a considered dialogue between heritage and innovation.
The PROTOTIPO introduces an evolved design language within the LLAGOS studio — one that combines fluid volumes with sharper surfaces through pure geometric shapes to achieve a precise aesthetic balance. Essential master lines define clean geometries, culminating in an intersection of forms that creates a central volume with a monolithic, almost sculptural depth. Every element reads as part of an interconnected whole.
Although the reference points are the original rims of the Maranello sports prototypes of the late 1960s, the PROTOTIPO does not replicate — it reinterprets. The expressive power of those iconic Ferrari wheels is filtered through a contemporary perspective, producing shapes that feel simultaneously familiar and genuinely original.
At the structural and visual heart of the PROTOTIPO sits a perfect five-arm star — the central volume with a monolithic and deep appearance from which the entire design flows.
Each arm reaches the outer channel surface to reinforce the visual impression of a larger diameter, amplifying the wheel’s presence on the car. This is one of the defining traits that sets the PROTOTIPO: the geometry is not simply decorative, it is proportionally engineered.
The crossing of the vanishing points of the star generates a central pentagonal form with softened edges, which simultaneously marks the stroke lines of the front face and acts as a diamond-cut surface — a signature element carried across all LLAGOS wheel models.
From the central pentagon, an extruded volume emerges at a precisely calculated angle, receding toward the centre of the rim until it meets a flat carbon fiber plate covering the fixing screws. The result is a marked visual depth — the defining visual trait of the PROTOTIPO— that gives these bespoke Ferrari wheels an assertive, almost architectural character that strongly accentuates the car’s sporty identity.
What makes the PROTOTIPO exceptional as a set of bespoke forged wheels is not the design alone — it is the material conversation happening across its surface. The surface covering the hardware is made from the same taffeta carbon fiber 1×1 used by Ferrari itself: an ultra-light, hi-tech material that creates an immediate contrast with the forged aluminum of the wheel body, and that encapsulates the PROTOTIPO’s overarching philosophy — where artisan craftsmanship meets high-technology manufacturing.
Beyond its visual impact, the carbon fiber hub element unlocks an entirely new dimension of personalisation for owners seeking truly unique bespoke wheels for Ferrari. It is available in multiple liveries and finishes — with edges specifiable in different colours, including the colors of the Italian flag — allowing each set of PROTOTIPO forged wheels to become a singular expression of the owner’s identity rather than a catalogue choice.
The carbon fiber hub element is secured by a precision-machined center cap milled from a solid block of aluminum — a process demanding the highest tooling standards and reflecting the same dedication to craftsmanship found in the finest Swiss watchmaking.
It is available in two distinct versions, each rooted in its own piece of Ferrari motorsport history.
The Daytona ’67 Heritage Racing Caps, with their retro-futuristic hexagonal geometry, pay tribute to Ferrari’s legendary 1-2-3 finish at the 1967 Daytona 24h and draw their form directly from the single-nut center caps of Ferrari’s competition cars of the late 1960s.
The Le Mans ’24 are inspired by the modern center-lock caps of Ferrari’s current racing prototypes, their name a tribute to Ferrari’s 1-2 finish at the 2024 Le Mans 24h.
Both designs are available in a wide range of finishes — painted to match the wheel, the brake caliper or the car’s body color, anodized in Racing Red or Racing Blue, or hand-polished — all of them available in gloss or satin finish, creating a spectacular contrast between the carbon fiber hub, the forged wheel finish and the brake caliper or body color of the car.
This system opens up thousands of possible combinations, making the PROTOTIPO one of the most customizable sets of bespoke forged wheels available today for Ferrari models — and a natural extension of the Ferrari Tailor Made philosophy — without ever compromising the coherence and elegance of the overall design.
